Who can do this?
Account owners only
You may want to delete a patient profile from your account for several reasons, such as cleaning up inactive or outdated records or if a patient requests that their data be deleted.
Deleting a patient in Halaxy permanently erases all their personally identifiable information from your practice. Any data that must be kept for legal or regulatory purposes, is automatically anonymised, obfuscated, and will no longer be linked to the patient. This ensures your practice records remain intact while meeting legal requirements and securely removing patient data.
When you choose to delete a patient, their profile is scheduled for permanent deletion in 7 days, giving you the option to cancel the deletion if needed. After this period, the record cannot be recovered.
Warning
Deleting a profile may also impact any patient records that are linked to it, such as being a primary/emergency contact. When a profile is deleted, it cannot be accessed, edited or recovered. All data is permanently disconnected from your Halaxy records, such as appointments, invoices, claims, referrals, and more.
Tip
If you only want to temporarily deactivate a patient profile, you can set the patient status to Archived. This allows you to reactivate in case the patient returns to your practice.
IMPORTANT: Only patient profiles with a Deleted status can be scheduled for deletion.
-
Open the patient profile, then in the top right, click Edit.
-
Set Status to Deleted, then click Save.
-
In the top right, click Edit again.
-
Scroll to the bottom of the profile, under the Delete Patient Record section, click Delete Patient.
-
In the pop-up, click Schedule Deletion to confirm.
This patient profile is now scheduled for deletion in 7 days. A banner appears in the patient profile to let you know when the patient profile will be permanently deleted.
